Villamor Air Base to Camp Aguinaldo: call for trucks, transportation #YolandaPH #reliefPH

POSTED ON November 21, 2013 AT 12:23 am

For reasons that have yet to be explained to the public, Oplan Salubong, which happened quite organically over at the Villamor Air Base will resume operations at Camp Aguinaldo starting today, November 21 at 12NN.

Art Relief Mobile Kitchen has requested for trucks and vehicles that might help them move to Camp Aguinaldo. Reliefph.com sounds that call for all the tents that were set up by volunteers at Villamor Air Base. Large SUVs, pick-ups, trucks of every kind can proceed to Villamor and just offer their vehicles for transporting tents and equipment — and people! — to Camp Aguinaldo by 12NN.

Evacuees from Tacloban and Cebu have been arriving 200 at a time at Villamor Air Base since the weekend, and Oplan Salubong, with its mobile kitchens, Oplan Hatid, libreng tawag, counselling, kiddie and breastfeeding tents has been welcoming the survivors to Manila. One survivor on TV on November 20 said that he thought they would arrive to Manila and they’d have nowhere to go, and so it was such a relief, at nakakataba ng puso, that they are being cared for as they arrive.

While moving Oplan Salubong to Camp Aguinaldo will mean a non-welcome at Villamor Air Base, we’d also like to think that getting that welcome an hour after they land in Manila will be better than no welcome at all.
