Gig for Davao relief efforts #pabloPH

Tugtugan Para sa Nasalantang Bayan:
A Benefit Gig for Typhoon Pablo Victims in Eastern Mindanao
December 13 2012
9PM onwards
Conspiracy Bar (#59, Visayas Ave, Quezon City)
Featuring the music of Joey Ayala, Bayang Barrios, Vin Dancel, Carlos Castaño, Bullet Dumas, and Ava Santos
Gate charge PhP200 each
All proceeds will go to Ateneo de Davao’s community-rebuilding efforts
A note from the organizers: This benefit gig was initiated by the U.P. Red Cross Youth in partnership with the University Student Council – U.P. Diliman and the Rotary Club of Midtown, Quezon City. What makes this benefit gig unique is that it was planned before the actual typhoon hit the devastated regions. As soon as PAGASA released the possible track of the storm, we talked to student leaders from the areas that may be affected and told them that we will be ready to help them as soon as the storm leaves their area. One thing that also sparked this gig to be organized so quickly (three days to be exact) was the fact that the typhoon was bigger and stronger than Sendong but the immediate response of organizations and companies alike aren’t even close to half of what we had during Sendong’s rampage.
“[Another reason] why we chose Ateneo de Davao’s University Community Engagement and Advocacy Council as our beneficiary is more than the usual food, clothes, and water that are given as relief goods; they are also building solar panels because there is no electricity in the stricken areas, and they are making ergonomic tents because what should have been evacuation centers were also ravaged, and more than that, they have dispatched psychosocial intervention teams to assist the traumatized victims.
